Immersion Baptistery

Designed by: Shanks Architects
Built by: Steele Freeman, Inc.

Pictured is a large immersion baptistery recently built for The Hills Church of Christ, North Richland Hills, TX.  The baptistery pool, and its built-in water wall, were prefabricated at Water Structures LLC facility.

Because of its size, the baptistery had to be shipped in three parts, which Water Structures’ experienced crew assembled on site. The builder, Steele Freeman, Inc., then installed black stone tile in the font pool. The water wall was then finished in a locally sourced split faced lime stone.

The baptistery is used frequently and “spontaneously” during Sunday services. During the service, a baptismal candidate enters the main font pool through an opening on one side of the water wall. After baptism they leave through the opening on the other side of the water wall.
